Very Golden Milk

About this Recipe

Despite its growing  popularity, I only recently discovered this easy-to-make traditional, Indian hot milk beverage, about a month ago.  My initial experience with golden milk left me feeling energetic, albeit not at all jittery.  In fact, there was a palpable sense of calm that lasted throughout the day.  And lest you think me a victim of the so-called placebo effect, it has since replaced coffee as my go-to morning beverage, after water that is, because the  results have been consistent, morning after morning, day after day.

There are numerous versions of the recipe online, they all include tumeric.  You might even say that turmeric is the gold in golden milk.  It not only gives the drink its deep yellow color and earthy flavor,  turmeric is one of a class of plants known as adaptogens.  And as the name implies, they help the body adapt to and/or resist stress.  However that's just part of the story.  Clinical research, including studies involving human, has found that adaptogens may confer myriad other health benefits including;

   *   anti-inflammation
   *   increased antioxidant capacity of the body
   *   improved focus
   *   improved memory
   *   lower risk of Alzheimer
   *   lower risk of heart disease
   *   lower risk of cancer

It seems the aforementioned sense of calm is mediated by curcumin, turmeric's active ingredient.  And yet, in case you haven't notice, neither turmeric, curcumin,ginger or black pepper are among the ingredients listed above.  Not to worry though!!  We replaced the turmeric with an equal amount SaLubre's Adapt2It Superfood Soothie Blend.  This convenient, synergistic fusion of 3 powerful adaptogens, including turmeric, ashwagandha and lion's mane.  We have even added the ginger and black pepper.   All you have to do is add your favorite non-dairy milk and the cinnamon and vanilla.  Cardamom and star anise are great options, as well.  In either case, ENJOY!!!
